Emerge Co. Ltd is an Accra-based creative outfit working across advertising, film production and events. Rather than cut a reel out of past work, the piece states what the company does in the only setting it uses: a bowl of water on a white surface, and goldfish jumping out of it.
The film opens inside the bowl. The fish turn, doubled and stretched by the curved glass, until one clears the rim and then another. Each leap carries a line of orange type with it — Clientele, Production, Events, Advertising — the words resolving as the fish pass them and holding on the empty background before the next jump resets the frame.
Two of the sections carry their own list as the fish cross them. Production resolves into Product Videos, Infomercials, TV Commercials and Computer Generated Image; Events into Private Functions, Corporate Functions and Private Concert.
Advertising is the only section given a paragraph, set in green under the orange heading: “A combination of great team work and technical know-how is what we rely on when devising campaigns for our Clients. Advertising, to us, is more about results than anything else and our work clearly shows this. Success stems from hardwork … that’s what we believe in!”
Everything in frame is computer-generated — the waterline, the spray off a fish breaking the surface, the caustics inside the glass, the rays through each fin — and the set never changes for the full two minutes and twenty-five seconds. One white surface, one bowl, run at 1280×720.
