The studio posted the set on 3 October 2009 as DENEESE - 3D VISUALIZATION, ARCHITECTURE / part one, opening with the line that this was “the first part of a mock-up we are doing for INCEPTltd” and that a second part would follow. Two months earlier a single cover frame had been teased as COMING SOON - DENEESE (WARNING! HIGHEND RENDERINGS). The labels are the studio’s usual working chain — SketchUp and V-Ray, finished in Photoshop — plus one that matters here more than anywhere else in the archive: portfolio.
A mock-up is not a commission, and the record should not pretend otherwise. There is no site, no client building and no architect credited; the rooms exist to show what the studio could model, light and dress. That is why the set repeats itself on purpose. The kitchen appears twice from the same angle with the same appliances and the same framed print on the wall, once in pale maple against an orange brick feature and once in dark walnut against the same wall in brown. It is a finishes study, not two kitchens.
What holds the eight frames together is a vocabulary the studio returned to for years. Parquet laid in small dark squares covers nearly every floor; pale walls are grounded by white panelled dadoes; pattern is carried by wallpaper — grey damask in the study, deep red florals behind the living room television — and accented with chrome, gilt and glass. A single etched geometric screen motif recurs hard across the set, appearing as a mirror screen in the entrance lobby, as the shower partition in the master bathroom and as a sliding panel in the second living room.
The lobby and the two bathrooms are the most elaborate frames: a symmetrical hall with a panelled front door between two tall slot windows, a wall-mounted aquarium and a gilded star-patterned ceiling panel, then a master bathroom with a freestanding tub standing in a bed of river pebbles, and a guest bathroom in dark mosaic and pale marble-effect slabs with a teak-slatted shower floor. Every plate carries its own caption strip naming the room and the year — DENEESE STUDY01 / 2009 / THE.SEED.V1.0 — with REVIVAL DESIGN+VFX STUDIOS / REVIVALGH.BLOGSPOT.COM at the other end. That V1.0 stamp, dated 2009 and pointing at the blog rather than a studio domain, is the earliest signature mark in the archive. The post is on blogspot.
