MIG / Furniture / Desk — 2020

HG-DESK

Black-stained desk with trestle legs in a studio, the MIG mark printed on the returned edge of the top.

A work desk built around one thick top with a returned edge carrying the MIG mark, set on angled trestle supports. Designed by RDVS in 2020 for the MIG line.

HG-DESK is furniture design, product visualization and in-house work at once: RDVS designed the desk for the studio’s own MIG line and presented it as a product visualization.

The top is the piece: a single heavy hardwood slab, stained black, with its edge returned downward so the MIG mark prints on the vertical face rather than on the writing surface. The base is a pair of angled steel trestles that carry the top clear of the floor at both ends.

Three plates and one film document it: the desk in the studio, a close view of the corner where the stained edge turns, a macro of the grain along the top edge, and a 21-second film of the desk in place in the Accra office the studio designed for Float, shot through the glass from the breakout area.

2020 is the date the studio records for HG-DESK. The media files carry a later export stamp, which is not the design date.
