Pious + Ama

Wedding invitation card on a magenta-to-pink gradient field: two interlocking thin white circles read as a p-and-a monogram at the centre of a target of concentric rings and an outer ring of dots, and below it the names pious + ama are set in a hairline geometric lowercase with the wedding date 25.08.2012 and the words cordially invites under a dotted rule at the foot.

A 2012 wedding invitation for Pious and Ama: a monogram-led card built from two interlocking circles, their names and the date of the ceremony, 25 August 2012.

The studio published the two layouts on 8 August 2012 as PIOUS + AMA - WEDDING INVITE, with no written note, so the card carries the whole brief: the couple’s initials become the picture, and the date they set — 25.08.2012 — is what dates the job to 2012.

The mark is drawn from two circles of the same diameter, overlapping so that their meeting reads as a p and an a at once. It sits on a target of concentric rings that fades into the field, ringed by a halo of dots, on a gradient that runs from deep magenta at the head to a lighter pink at the foot. The lettering is a hairline geometric lowercase, so the names and the date keep the roundness of the monogram instead of competing with it.

The two files are the same composition at two scales: the first holds the whole card, rings and dotted rule inside a margin, and the second enlarges it until the dot halo is cropped on every edge — the front panel and its tighter alternate.
