MIG / Furniture / Floating light frame — 2020

FLAH

FLAH in a bedroom render: a thin continuous line of warm white light set into the wall, tracing a wide rectangle around the wall-mounted television, with the floating console crossing its lower right, an abstract canvas above, a tan leather chair under the console and the bed in the foreground.

A frame of light instead of a frame of timber: FLAH sets a continuous illuminated line into the wall and draws it around the screen, with the console floating below it and nothing built between the two. Designed by RDVS for the MIG line and shown as a CGI interior.

FLAH is industrial design and product visualization in one piece: the studio designed it for its own MIG line and documented it as a bedroom render.

The element is a line of light recessed into the wall, describing a wide rectangle around the television. The screen hangs inside the outline rather than on a carcass, and the floating console crosses the frame's lower right and runs on to the corner, where a leather chair is turned under it. There is no surround, no cabinet and no visible fixing: the light itself is the frame.

The plate shows the piece installed rather than isolated — a pale plaster wall, an abstract canvas hung above the right of the frame, a vase of dark stems and a stack of books on the console, and the bed in the foreground carrying a decanter and a pile of magazines.

2020 is the date this listing carries for FLAH, the year recorded for the MIG pieces around it; the file itself carries a 2023 export stamp, which is not the design date.
