A single poster for an event organizer in Accra, made around the party brand Aces Re-Up. The commission was small and specific: one image that could carry the night on its own, announcing the name clearly enough to read from a distance and holding up as a small thumbnail shared online.
The idea is a pun drawn literally. Four playing-card aces fan out across the upper half, so the word ace is read before it is spelled, and the event name sits below them as inflated three-dimensional lettering that behaves like a stage prop rather than a typeface.
Colour does the mood work: a deep bottle-green field, faintly patterned with scrollwork, gives the white lettering and pale floral flourishes a stage, while a spade mark and a widely spaced PRESENTS line sit at the top like a club crest. The letters catch a hard overhead light and drip at their base.
The deliverable was one vertical poster built with 3D lettering and rendered type, and the project stayed a single plate. RDVS Studios published it in 2013 as the portfolio record of a commission made for a 2009 event, keeping the artwork in circulation as a graphic design reference.
The project was published as ACES -- RE-UP — RDVS. DESIGN; the full set is on Behance.
